Da Brat is facing a civil lawsuit after serving three years for bashing an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader in the face with a bottle. Jury selection began today at the Cobb County Superior Court. The victim, Shayla Shayla Stevens claims that the altercation caused her “permanent facial scarring, neurological impairment and severe mental pain.” Da Brat broke a rum bottle over Shayla’s head at a Halloween party in 2007. According to the suit, “[Shayla] suffered permanent damage to her face including possible neurological damage, forcing her to relinquish her duties with the Atlanta Falcons and to give up a budding acting career with an appearance on Tyler Perry’s ‘House of Payne’ television show.” Shayla also claims the incident hindered her aspirations in show business.
